Flames from Hell Leptastrea Atlantis Aquarium Colony. This original Flames
from Hell Atlantis Leptastrea colony has a brilliant fire orange red pigmentation.
Inbetween corallites a purplish pigmentation can be seen.

The Flames from Hell Leptastrea is a brilliantly colored fire orange red Leptastrea species. It is similar to the Gold Leptastrea, but pigmentation has greater intensity and is more reddish orange in coloration. The coral was exported by Tonga and originally acquired by Atlantis Aquarium in late 2004. Mingwei of Atlantis named the coral Flames from Hell due to its fire orange red pigmentation which is most intense in the center of the corallites. He believes that the coral requires low light and low current. Steve Tyree is maintaining a farmed section of this coral for reeffarmers.com in his 125 gallon naturally filtered Tri-Zonal Reef Aquariums. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positoned to recieve moderate to weak light levels under a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium Metal Halide. This coral will probably develop brighter pigmentation when maintained under moderate light levels. Please note - Reeffarmers retired this coral on August 2010. We had difficulty maintaing the seed after fragmentation. We no longer maintain a seed of this coral in captivity.
Flames from Hell Leptastrea Reeffarmers Seed Colony. This Leptastrea has been
maintained in moderate to weak lighting. The brilliant orange pigmentation has
weakened a little, but this Leptastrea is still more colorful then the Gold Leptastrea.
The Flames from Hell should increase its pigmentation intensity in brighter light.

After this First Edition Auction the coral becomes a normal Limited Edition each month where Reeffarmers.com earns each months reservation income by growing the captive fragment.
