During the spring of 2016 we acquired this Sea Squirt species from a captive reef aquarists located in north Alabama. These Botryllus colonies are composed of a colony of zooids that form a single specimen. They will develop common exhalant siphons near the center of a group of zooids. It is common for colonies to close up for a day or two and redevelop their zooid arrangements. Moderately difficult to maintain in captivity. None to weak light. Weak to no current. Will generate its own current flow. Cryptic to semi-exposed zones. Squirts will take up iodine.
