The R66 Three Color Millepora has three dominant pigment characteristice. Branch tips are bright
lime green in coloration. Corallites have two primary colors that are yellow and pink. Near the
branch ends corallites are bright yellow almost golden in color. In middle and lower sections of
the branches corallites are bright pink. Polyps appear to be primarily clear with some bluish
white tints to the tentacles.
At Route 66 Marine the coral was given
the name Three Color Millepora and that name has just stuck with the coral. This coral has a lot
of potential to morph over time while in captivity. There are three dominant pigments in the branches
and the polyps themselves appear to have a faint complex pigmentation to them.
Reeffarmers is currently maintaining a seed section of this coral in a 8 foot Raceway Gyre BiZonal
system. The parent colony of this coral is believed to have died in the Route 66 Marine facility
during their heat and system problems in the spring of 2015. The seed frag and first edition frag
are the only known surviving fragments of this coral.
Our system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In this
captive reef the coral is positioned to receive moderate to strong light and moderate
water current. The first edition fragment of this coral was sold privately to Dennis Sandoval.
Suggested list price on March 20th 2015 was $155 for a small fragment.
