The Route Epitaph Acropora is the second and final sad commemoration coral that Reeffarmers is releasing within a week of the closing of Route 66 Marine. If Route 66 Marine should be remembered for anything, it should be remembered for the incredible corals they helped to bring into the US marketplace. Many of those corals could have easily been shipped to Asia or Europe instead of the US.

Reeffarmers picked this coral from a large collection of corals that Route 66 Marine had imported in March of 2015. We originally called it the crazy pink multicolor Acropora for an in house name. There were two small colonies of this coral. Reeffarmers harvested a seed fragment and a first edition fragment. That first edition fragment died in our quarantine tank after tarveling to coral shows in Houston and New Orleans. We are assuming that the original sources of the coral did not survive the heat and system problems Route 66 Marine experienced when they first setup their large fragment growout system. So our seed is the only known surviving fragment.

The current pigment configuration of this Acropora is predominantly pink with some blue patches in the encrusting area. Tentacles are red with pink colored tips. The center of the polyps are colored cream pink. The original colony had mostly blue branch stems with the pink pigments confined to corallite walls. The original colony also had green and yellow corallite edges.

Our system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In this captive reef the coral is positioned to receive moderate to strong light and moderate water current. The first edition fragment of this coral is being sold on our Buy It Now web page. Recommended list price on July 9th 2015 is $165 for a small fragment.
