The R66 Moulin Rouge Acropora has very colorful polyps that define the overall look of the coral. Polyps have rouge colored tentacles and a solid center disk that is colored bright pink. Branches have a violet blue purple mix pigments with highlights that vary between those pigments. Lower sections of branches can develop a bright green pigment (see upper right area in above image).

The fragment imaged above represents the entire original seed of this Exclusive Edition coral from Route 66 Marine. Reeffarmers received one small fragment as the first edition and one tiny fragment as the seed for growout. We originally called this coral the New Rouge Pink Acropora. Reeffarmers eventually decided to call the coral Moulin Rouge Acropora based on the rouge pink polyps that appear as a fluffy edge to colorful branches. Moulin Rouge was a cabaret located in Paris in the late 1880's and was also the name of an Australian/US movie about the cabaret.

Reeffarmers is currently maintaining a seed section of this coral in a 8 foot Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. The original parent sections of this coral did not survive some heat and system related problems that Route 66 Marine experienced during the spring of 2015. The first edition and seed are the only known surviving fragments of this coral.

Our system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In this captive reef the coral is positioned to receive moderate light and moderate water current. The first edition fragment of this coral was sold at Reef Currents 2015 to Jim Holt. Recommended list price on March 31st 2015 is $155 for a small fragment.
