Internally at Route 66 Marine we called this coral the Yellow Tenuis with Blue polyps. Reeffarmers decided to call the coral the R66 Maize and Blue Tenuis in reference to the Yellow (Maize or Corn) Greenish colored corallites. The blue is obviously for its blue polyps. Maize and Blue is also the motto name for the Michigan Wolverines with their unique yellow and dark blue helmets and jerseys. The owner of Reeffarmers setup his first saltwater tank while living in Michigan.
Reeffarmers is currently maintaining a seed section of this coral in a 8 foot Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. The parent colony of this coral is not known to have made it out of Route 66 Marine before the closure of the company. It is possible that a couple of fragments were distributed by Route 66 Marine, but there is no surviving parent colony.
Our system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In this captive reef the coral is positioned to receive moderate to strong light and moderate to weak water current. The first edition fragment of this coral was sold at Reef Currents 2015 to Zach MacDonald. Suggested list price on March 30th 2015 was $175 for a small fragment.
