One of the most colorful Favites-like corals that we have seen. The shared corallite walls are fluorescent light to medium green. Inner corallite eye areas contain bright fluorescent red pigment. Between these two contrasting color areas there are dark red inner corallite walls that can have fluorescent green rays or minor ridges.
The R66 Favites Patron Route Edition has been maintained in the Route 66 Marine old school coral system for many years. The Rainbow name was developed by Route 66 Marine and describes the bright contrast or gradient of colors from this corals outer bright green ridge to its bright red corallite center.
Reeffarmers is currently maintaining a seed section of this coral in a 8 foot Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. We do not know what happened to the parent colony of this coral when Route 66 Marine closed its business. We have 4 fragments of this coral at Reeffarmers including our seed and the coral grows well in captivity.
Our system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In this captive reef the coral is positioned to receive weak to moderate light and moderate to strong water current. The first edition fragment of this coral is being sold on our Buy It Now web page. Recommended list price on February 18th 2015 was $140 for a single large corallite.
