The Wow Factor Acropora can develop some dramatic two tone pigmentation as can be seen in the original colony image above. This is an Australian Acropora with smooth branches and slightly elongated corallites that are also slightly rounded. In its two tone coloration, branch stems are deep green, while elongated corallites are edged with blue. This blue pigmentation can extend half way down the sides of the elongated corallites. Reeffarmers believes that this coral can turn solid blue in strong light, while moderate light might be a better environment to develop the green branch stems and blue tips. In bright light polyps can turn blue.

This Acropora was originally exported from an Eastern Australia reef slope during the end of 2010. And it was another exotic Acropora colony acquired by Dan and Tina of WT Inc.. Reeffarmers acquired our new seed and first edition fragments directly from them in November of 2011. Dan and Tina recommend strong light and a low nutrient environment to develop the most intense pigmentation. They state it is a very hardy Acropora and that fragments do fairly well.

Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in a 130 gallon Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive strong to moderate light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. The first edition fragment of this coral was sold on our Buy It Now page. Introductory list price was $150 for a small fragment.
