Wormhole Brain

Wormhole Brain Reeffarmers Seed. What a strange looking brain coral. The medium sized corallite centers contain large
spheres colored white blue. These spheres are aligned into rows travelling toward the center of the corallite. This gives the
corallite center an appearance similar to the space travelling wormholes commonly shown on science fiction dramas.

This brain has some very interesting patterns within its medium corallites. There are rows of white blue colored spheres that travel inward toward the center mouth of the corallite. These inward travelling rows give the corallite an appearance of the typical space travelling wormhole you see within science fiction dramas. These spheres appear more white when placed under a bulb that radiates less blue. They appear more blue when placed under lights with more blue such as the 20,000 K Radium. Corallite centers can also develop a pinkish blue color. The corallite ridges located inbetween the corallites have been slowly turning green in captivity. When first imported however this area basically had a dull light brown coloration. The coral appears to be turning more green and more blue the longer the it is maintained under artificial lights. This coral is growing nicely in captivity and new encrusting growth occurs quickly. The coral was originally acquired by Miguel of FraggleReef. Miguel has quite the eye for spotting rare and unusual corals. Reeffarmers has not accurately identified this coral species but believe that it could be a Favites complanata. Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed fragment of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in a 125 gallon naturally filtered TriZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a cryptic zone, filter feeder zone and reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positoned 18 inches away from a 400 watt 20,000 K Helios metal halide. It appears that the green pigmentation is intensifying quicker under the stronger violet that is emitted from the Helios. Fragments under a 20,000 K Radium are greening up slower. You can also see some very intense green pigments developing on the left edge of the Reeffarmers Seed. Water current is moderate. Price is currently $65 per small fragment consisting of at least a couple of corallites. The bimonthly limited edition reservation schedules can be found below.
