What an incredible looking Acropora coral that contains pigmentation patterns and corallite morphology that are highly unusual. Reeffarmers received our seed section directly from Uchins Select Corals. This coral was grown by Uchin Chong who lives in the Dallas Fort Worth area. Branch stems can develop a bright blue color that contrasts sharply with the dark purple blue corallites. These corallites can develop pink pigments along their upper edges. Corallite walls also contain some very unique grove patterns. Polyps develop an extended cream blue colored tentacle during the day that gives the coral an overall hairy and colorful appearance.

Reeffarmers is very glad we decided to stop and observe the incredible show reef of Uchin Chong. His reef utilizes a combination of T5 and LED lighting that really enhances the visible intensity of the pigments contained on the Pinky the Bear Acropora. Uchin acquired the Acropora in 2010 and it was exported from Australia. The coral develops some incredible polyp extension and when Uchin saw this fluffy Acro, the name Bear was based on its fluffy or furry appearance. Uchin recommends strong current and moderate light levels for best health and coloration.

Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in an 8 foot raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive strong to moderate light levels from a 400 watt SE 20,000 K metal halide. The first retail edition fragment of this coral is currently being sold on our Buy It Now web page. The introductory price is $175.00 .
