Another chalice from Reef Raft USA with incredibly colorful corallite eye pigments.
Corallite eyes are brilliant orange with distinct green and yellow partially swirled pigments.
The main surface of the coral is medium dark with bright baby blue spots.
These spots form into lines that radiate outward from the corallite eye.

The RR Colossus Chalce has some incredibly brilliant colored corallite eyes that are dominated by an almost neon orange pigmentation. Many of the corallite eyes also develop bright fluorescent greens and yellows. These colors remain somewhat distinct and do not completely swirl into a mix. That helps the pigments maintain their incredible intensity. The surface of the chalice has also developed bright baby blue colored spots. These spots tend to radiate outward from the corallite eyes. These lines can extend down the sides of the chalices medium large size corallites.

The original RR Colossus Chalice colony was exclusively imported to Reef Raft USA located in Orange County California. Reeffarmers acquired our first edition and seed fragments directly from their facility in early January 2012. Tony of Reef Raft USA [reefraftusa@gmail.com] recommends low light and weak to moderate current for this chalice. He also recommends clean water along with some measurable nitrates.

Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in a 130 gallon Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive weak to moderate light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. The first edition fragment of this coral was sold on our Buy It Now page. Introductory list price was $400 for a small fragment with a single eye.

The RR Colossus Chalice can develop some incredibly large corallite eyes.
The pigments within the eye are incredibly bright and include green, yellow and orange.
Note the outer fine pink line and numerous blue spots radiating outside the eye.
Pigments are partially distinct and do not completely mix and swirl.

Note baby blue spots around large brilliant orange corallite.
Extended polyp tentacles have pink bulb ends. Cut edges healed.
