The RC Bleeding Sun Favia has some amazing pigment qualities. It is basically similar to the Mayan Sun Favia, but corallite centers are slightly smaller. Corallite ridges have the same bright green radiating lines as the Mayan Sun. This Favia has additional pigment qualities including: patches of red pigments can appear in corallite centers and in ridge areas: and the Green coraliite ridge rays can gradient in color from orange golden to yellow to green.

Reefers Cove acquired this coral in early 2014 from a wholesaler in Los Angeles. The name Bleeding Sun was based on the red pigment patches and the similarity to the Mayan Sun Favia.

Reeffarmers is maintaining a seed section of this coral in a 8 foot Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In this captive reef the coral is positioned to receive weak to moderate light and moderate to strong water current. The first edition fragment of this coral was sold at Fragniappe 2015 to Jack Beard. Suggested list price on February 20th 2015 was $140.00 for a small fragment.
