Another version of the delicately branched deepwater dragon Acropora SPS corals. The Pink Dragon Tails Acro has a more open secondary branching morphology. Best described as an open branching staghorn-like coral. Coloration is very similar to the original Red Dragon Acropora, but the color is lighter and more toward the pink side of the spectrum. Polyps are bright pink colored. The deepwater dragon Acropora have a very low density of polyps. Some secondary branchlets consist of an elongated smooth tubular branch with a single axial corallite at the end of the branch.

The Pink Dragon Tails was exported from Indonesia by SniperSPS (Hugo Zuniga) during the early summer of 2011. This is a deepwater Acropora that prefers low light levels and low to moderate captive water flows. Hugo believes this may be the same species as the original Red Dragon, but the Pink Dragon Tails is a more open branching morphology. Harvested fragments appear to also have a higher survivability.

Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers in a 130 gallon Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive weak light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. Water current is weak to moderate. The first edition fragment was sold to private collector Chad Trambaugh.
