The Orangeaide Chalice is a brilliantly multi-colored chalice that contains exotic turquoise blue pigment patches. This coral has now been in captivity since 2009 and has fully adapted and is growing. The main colors are a bright orange and gold pigmentation that is located across the main surface. The more exotic pigment is the patches and streaks of bright turquoise blue pigment. That pigment can occur just about any where on the corals surface. Orange pigments can occur in well defined radiating lines, and the outer growth edge of the chalice tends to be primarily a bright orange.

Reeffarmers acquired our seed fragments directly from Morgan Wood of Captain's Corals. Morgan originally acquired this coral during the spring of 2009 from reef aquarist Gonewild34 (Reef2Reef). Fragments were distributed by Gonewild34 to Morgan and also Easton Reef. Unfortunately the original coral and Easton Reef's fragment were lost. Only Morgan of Captain's Corals managed to get a fragment to fully adapt and thrive within captivity. Morgan had been maintaining the Orangeaide Chalice under moderate T5 lighting, but switched over to LED lighting in July 2011. He recommends moderate water currents. This chalice has been a slow grower.

Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in a 130 gallon Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive weak to moderate light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. The first edition fragment was sold to a private buyer. Introductory list price is $200 for a small single eye first edition fragment.
