An absolutely amazing Acropora that rates as being one of the most exotically colorful Acropora that Reeffarmers has seen. The OA Blast from the Past is a bright purple to blue colored Acropora. Somewhat similar in shape and form to the original Purple Monster LE. Branch stems and corallite edges are bright blue, while corallite walls are dark purple. There also appears to be a fluorescent green pigment that can develop in lower light areas of the coral. This green might have been grafted onto the coral at some point. In addition to the bright base coloration, the coral also has colored polyps that extend during the day.

Another culled Acropora found by Brian Kim at Oculus Aquatics (OA). This exotic gem was found travelling amongst many of the colonies still bring exported from the Pacific Ocean. The polyps on this coral appear to contain a mix of pigmentation. It is possible that some exotic polyp coloration could develop later on this now captive coral.

Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in a 130 gallon Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive moderate to strong light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. The first edition fragment of this coral was sold at the 2012 DA-CFM coral show.
