Mycedium robokaki
True Robokaki

Mycedium robokaki True Robokaki Reeffarmers Seed. The 'Eyes Have It' on this coral. The amazing True Robobaki
appears to be a plate of eyes with bright orange/red pupils. This True version of the species has very bright orange/red
pupils that contrast sharply with its brilliant base green. The eye itself is turquoise and it is surrouded by a
dark green eyebrow-like raised corallite ridge. The surface inbetween the eyes also has textured patterns.

Another incredibly striking specimen of coral from the collection of Jason Fox (jafautorepair@yahoo.com). The corallite 'eyes' on this particular Mycedium robokaki stand out strongly and clearly on the corals surface. Jason's actual parent colony within his amazing reef appears to be a 'plate with eyes'. The corallite mouth or eye pupil is bright red/orange. The inner eye or corallite area is colored turquoise. This inner eye is surrounded by a dark green corallite ridge that almost appears to form the ridges and brows of an eye socket. In between the eyes this morph of M. robokaki has a bright green pigmentation that also appears to form some textured patterns on its surface. Jason acquired his original Mycedium robokaki as a small fragment of a coral believed to be from the South China Sea area of the Indo-Pacific. This coral has a basic pigmentation pattern similar to the Mycedium robokaki displayed in Image 3 on Page 346 in Volume 2 of Corals of the World by Veron. Reeffarmers has defined this coral as the True Robokaki because Jason has three of these species in his collection and this True species is described by Jason as having the brightest green base combined with very bright red/orange pupils. It is the most colorful Robokaki within his collection of Mycediums (see image below). Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed fragment of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in a 125 gallon naturally filtered TriZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a cryptic zone, filter feeder zone and reef flat exposed zone. Jason states that this coral tends to develop bigger corallites in low current. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned 12 inches away from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. Water current is weak to moderate. Price is currently $125 per small sized fragment with 2 corallite eyes. The bimonthly limited edition reservation schedules can be found below.
