The Kaleidoscope Favia gets its name from the incredible kaleidoscope patterns of pigments that occur within corallite centers. There seems to be an endless number of patterns made from red, pink, orange, yellow and green pigments. The favias corallite ridges are pigmented turquoise to blue. Reeffarmers acquired our seed fragment from Jared Butler at RockyMountainFrags. Jared found this Favia at a local fish store where it had browned out and was in bad shape. Jared saw some potential in the coral. After about a month the coral started developing its amazing kaleidoscope pattern of pigments. Jared believes the coral prefers lower light with lower flow. This coral has the potential to develop some amazing captive pigment morphs over time. Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in an 125 gallon naturally filtered TriZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone, a semi-exposed zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive weak light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. The price of this coral per small fragment consisting of single polyp is $90.00. The quarterly limited edition reservation schedules can be found below.
