Joe the Acro is a multi colored rainbow Acropora that is of the A. millepora or A. prostrata species. Tips and leading edges are blue to turquoise colored. Corallite edges can develop bright pink with their inner sections developing a dark red. Polyps in strong light are reddish pigmented with an elongated whitish colored tentacle. In deeper low light areas the polyps turn bright fluorescent green. The Joe the Acro is a very exotic and multicolored coral.

Reeffarmers acquired our seed fragments of this coral directly from Joe Knows Reefs. Joe imported the coral directly from Indonesia in the summer of 2012. He recommends strong to moderate light levels with a full spectrum halide or T5 lighting system. The coral appears to prefer moderate water currents. Under moderate light levels the coral can turn solid blue, while under strong light the rainbow pigments develop.

Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in an 8 foot raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive moderate light levels from a 400 watt SE 20,000 K metal halide. The first edition fragment of this coral was listed at $130 and was sold on our Buy It Now web page.
