Over the past 2 years we have seen some new varieties of the original Red Dragon LE that Reeffarmers first made an LE back in late 2010. The Joe's Golden Dragon Acropora is a new variety of the original Red Dragon. This Dragon Acro develops a pink magenta coloration and its unique trait is that polyps can fluoresce brilliant yellow golden under actinic lighting. In normal lighting the polyps still retain a yellow golden color. This coral develops the branching dragon morphology typically found within the Dragon Class of Acropora corals.

Reeffarmers acquired our seed fragments of this coral directly from Joe Knows Reefs. Joe has been collecting exotic corals for quite a few years. He imported the coral from Indonesia in early 2012. It is one of the true deep water dragon Acropora and develops the unique and exotic dragon branch structure. Joe recommends moderate to weak light levels with weak to moderate water currents.

Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in an 8 foot raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive weak to moderate light levels from a 400 watt SE 20,000 K metal halide. The first retail edition fragment of this coral was sold private. Retail fragments of this coral have listed up to $200.00 .
