A new and exotic Acropora from the, Rocky Mountains ? This Acro gem had been hidden away and was growing in a captive reef for seven years. Under bright 20,000 K halide lighting it has developed some absolutely stunning pigment qualities. As can be seen in the closeup image above: red polyps; pinkish cream extended tentacle; pink edged corallites; cream colored branch stems; and even a few green yellow tipped branches. It has basic qualities similar to other Lemonade Acropora, but it is a very unique and distinct species morph.

Reeffarmers acquired our seed and first edition fragments directly from Gonzo's Coral Frags during the 2013 Next Wave/DA-CFM coral show in early March 2013. This coral was originally acquired around 2006 as a whole colony from the retail shop Ki's Island in the Denver area. Back then they were known locally for having exotic Acropora. Gonzo's has maintained the coral under medium to high light with strong flow.

Reeffarmers is maintaining a seed section of this coral in a 8 foot Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In this captive reef the coral is positioned to receive moderate light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K single ended metal halide. The first edition fragment of this coral was sold to a private buyer. List price was $90 for a small fragment.

Limited Edition Gonzo's Raspberry Lemonade Acropora Gonzo's Colony Image.
The basic morphology of this corals branch structure is similar to the LE Pink Lemonade.
Corallite structure for this coral however is different and polyps do not extend as much.
This colony here was maintained under 20,000 K halides with supplemental ReefBrite LED's.
It is unknown what causes the green pigments to develop on some of the branch tips.
