Galactic Inferno Lithophyllon
A KLR/Kelby Original

Galactic Inferno Lithophyllon undulatum Limited Edition LPS Stony. KLR/Kelby Colony Image.
When KLR/Kelby sent Reeffarmers this image of the Galactic Inferno coral we were shocked.
We had never seen bright baby blue corallites within a solid orange stony coral surface.
When our seed arrived we did some research and discovered that it was a Lithophyllon coral.
So the Galactic Inferno is a rare color combo on a somewhat rare and unusual species.

The Galactic Inferno Lithophyllon is a bright orange Lithophyllon species coral with bright blue corallites. A very rare and unusual color combination for stony corals. We have seen colorful Lithophyllon specimens before, but they have all been colored green with blue corallites. Lithophyllon species corals all have very unique corallite structures and coloration. In general they can be confused with Leptoseris corals, but their corallites are very unique as can be seen in the image below. Also note the white ringed mouths.

This is another online retail exotic coral acquisition by reef aquarist KLR/Kelby. The Galactic Inferno Lithophyllon was originally exported from Indonesia. The name of this coral is based on its blue star-like corallites, which occur within the bright orange base pigmentation. Kelby recommends moderate to low light along with strong water flow. In strong light and during stress the coral can lose its base orange pigmentation.

Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in a 130 gallon Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive low light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. The first edition fragment of this coral was sold to a private customer. List price is currently $70 for a small plating multi-eye fragment.
