Ava Jane Chalice
A Coral Fever Original

Ava Jane Chalice Limited Edition LPS Stony. Coral Fever Colony Image.
The surface of the Ava Jane Chalice appears as if drops of paint were just splattered all over.
There are distinct patterns however in the different pigment colors. Orange colored bumps
are located close to corallite mouths. Yellow colored bumps are located farther away from
mouths and near edges they can form into lines. Surface base is primarily turquoise blue.

The spectacular pigments of the Ava Jane Chalice include a rainbow of colors. The primary colors include green, blue, yellow, orange and pink, while there also appears to be shades of violet and turquoise. The surface of the coral is covered with numerous inflated bumps or spheres that have different colored surfaces then their base colors. Near the corallite mouths the bumps have an orange surface with a violet pink colored base. On the outer ridges of the corallites the bumps have green surface with a turquoise blue base pigment. Inbetween these two areas the bumps have a surface colored yellow with either the violet pink colored base area or the turquoise blue colored base.

Reeffarmers acquired our seed section of the Ava Jane chalice directly from Coral Fever. We picked up the coral as we were driving to Florida for the 2011 SE-CFM coral show. Coral Fever acquired the coral in September 2010 from the importer/wholesaler Route 66. The coral was exported from Indonesia. Originally the corals pigments were faint and it took about 3 to 4 months for the chalice to fully color up. Seth and Angelle of Coral Fever named the Ava Jane Chalice after thier first child who was born on March 10th 2011.

Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of this coral for Reeffarmers.com in a 130 gallon Raceway Gyre BiZonal system. This system is naturally filtered with a semi-cryptic zone and a reef flat exposed zone. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive weak to moderate light levels from a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium metal halide. The first edition fragment of this coral was auctioned at the 2011 SE-CFM coral show. Reeffarmers sold the second edition for $125.00 on June 22nd 2011 to private collector James Wensil.
