Rainbow Stylophora
This side view of the Reeffarmers Rainbow Stylophora seed colony cleary demonstrates why this Stylophora
has been called the Rainbow Stylophora. The polyps on this coral are solid bright baby blue. The main coral
surface can develop violet to pink to reddish pigmentation. In lower light there can also be greeinsh
to yellowish pigmentation as can be seen in the shaded areas of this seed coral.

The Rainbow Stylophora is one of the most colorful Stylophora corals that we have ever seen within the captive reef market. Its incredible rainbow pigmentation pattern (see image above) fully developed while the coral was being maintained within the captive reef system of David Wang. The corals polyps are baby blue, while its main body has pigmentation that ranges from violet to pink to red to yellow to green. David acquired the coral as a fragment from Tongs of Fountain Valley California during the summer of 2007. That original Stylophora colony had some interesting pigments, but it had not fully developed its rainbow pattern at the time David acquired his initial fragment. Reeffarmers has previously distributed one fragment of this coral at the Bay Area Coral Farmers Market and 4 fragments at the Dallas Fort Worth Coral Farmers Market events in 2008. That distribution occurred while the coral was still under LE/AE evaluation. Steve Tyree is maintaining a seed section of the Rainbow Stylophora for Reeffarmers.com in an 80 gallon naturally filtered Bi-Zonal Reef Aquarium. In Steve's captive reef the coral is positioned to receive moderate light under a 400 watt 20,000 K Radium Metal Halide. It appears that this coral will develop its best rainbow coloration under moderate to weak lighting. The Auctioned Edition opening bid for each new auction is currently $90.00 per small fragment.
